The Altoona–Logan Township Mobile Emergency Department Authority (AMED) is a trusted provider of emergency medical services serving Altoona, Logan Township, and surrounding communities throughout Blair County, Pennsylvania. Since 1969, AMED has been committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care with professionalism, compassion, and integrity.

As a municipal authority, AMED operates a comprehensive EMS system that includes advanced life support (ALS) and basic life support (BLS) ambulance services. Our highly trained paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) respond to 911 emergencies, provide interfacility and non-emergency medical transportation, and support regional emergency response efforts.

AMED works closely with local hospitals, fire departments, law enforcement agencies, and air medical providers to ensure coordinated, efficient care for every patient. In addition to emergency response, we are actively involved in community outreach, public education, and event standby services, reinforcing our mission to protect and improve the health and safety of the communities we serve.
